Over the Coffee - June 2019

Summer is here! Well, not literally (wait a few weeks) – but kids are out of school

and the outdoor pools are open. The spring blossoms are giving way to that long stretch

of green that is so beautiful this time of year. It doesn’t seem that long ago that it was

all brown everywhere. But green is refreshing and we need to enjoy it in the brief time

that it lasts. May all your summer plans come together for a most enjoyable time.

The Common Lectionary Readings for June this year are as follows:

June 2 Acts 16:16-34; Psalm 97; Revelation 22:12-21; John 17:20-26

All adults are invited to join the combined Bible Fellowship Class in the Choir

Room on the second level of the Educational Wing at 9:30 a.m. We will be spending

the summer months (June 9 – August 25) in a study of the Lord’s Prayer. We will be

reading a book by an American Baptist African-American pastor, Rev. Alice Burnett

Green. The book has the title, The Revolutionary Power of the Lord’s Prayer, and it is a

2017 paperback that has chapters divided by the phrases in the Lord’s Prayer. The book

is $13 and copies will be made available to all who want to join us. You may make a

donation to cover the cost of the book but that is not required. Come and share this

study with us.
