A new year begins! We here at North Baptist are moving into our 71st year as a
congregation and we are thankful that the Lord has brought us through so much, and
we know what it means to depend on His grace. We lost one of our oldest members,
John McCallum, right before Christmas and his funeral service was on December 29 –
just two days before his 98th birthday. He will be missed.

I will be using the Common Lectionary again for the adult Bible Fellowship class
that I teach. We will be meeting upstairs in the Christian Education wing this winter.
Sunrise begins at almost 8:00 a.m. this month and the sunset moves from around a
quarter past 5:00 till a quarter to 6:00 p.m. – so we are on our way to a little more sun
each day. After setting a record for most rain last year it is hard to know what the rest
of this winter will bring – but why not get up and join us for Bible Fellowship at 9:30.
It is usually light outside!
Bible study begins again on Wednesday, January 9 at 11:00 a.m. We have finished
the Joseph narrative and will move on to some selected Bible study passages as we
move through this time before Lent. We may do something different during Lent but
that is still being decided.
