Over the Coffee
A New Year! Let us pray that it brings far more peace and joy than the last year we
have all been through. Lots of misery and upset in the human family in many places.
At least 50% of the people in Puerto Rico have electricity now! Still seems vastly
unacceptable. As we have the power to do good things and make a difference in our
lives, let us do make those positive differences with all our might.
Here is the Common Lectionary material for the month of January. Included is the
passage I will use in worship and the message title.

I know that the weather has been cold lately (although far worse in other parts of
the country) – but if you are able to get out – Bible Study is on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m.
We will be considering some changes in our normal routine. I am considering having
us work on some basic Bible study methods that will enhance home study and understanding.
This would involve moving away from reviewing the Common Lectionary
material. We will still do a text study of Common Lectionary material in Bible
Fellowship on Sunday morning in the class that I teach.
The Columbus Baptist Association will have a meeting at New Life Baptist Church
on January 30th at 7:00 p.m. We will be looking at updating the CBA constitution and
by-laws which have become somewhat outdated. Let me know if you have an interest
in attending this event and I can give you more information.
